The Great Aussie Lawns Summer Lawn Calendar is Here.
LAWN SEED TIPS:
- Follow the weather cues. Temperatures vary in all states.
- If your temperature is consistently warmer after winter you can start sowing projects and repairs.
- We recommend you use a Starter Fertiliser like Kickstart Fertiliser when sowing lawn seed.
- For Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, ACT, and NSW: Hotter areas choose WARM season varieties.
- For Tasmania: choose cool season grasses and blends. Like, Perennial ryegrass, Kentucky Bluegrass, and Fescues.
- Check irrigation settings. More watering is required in summer months, especially for lawns with cool season grasses.
- Watch your mowing height in hotter months. Cutting too low reduces moisture in the plant leaf and can place your lawn under stress.
- While it's possible to sow seed in Summer months, more attention needs to be paid to keeping soil damp during germination.
FERTILISING TIPS:
- Fertilise to boost your lawn before the summer heat.
- Established lawns use All Season Reno Fertiliser.
- For iron use Best Nitrex Fertiliser. A controlled release fertiliser like Gold Pro is also a great option.
- If your soil is difficult to wet use a Wetting Up. It assists with water penetration and limits water waste.
