1. Promotes Root Growth

Fertilising your lawn promotes root growth. The grass will be able to absorb nutrients and water better, leading to stronger roots that will survive the harsh winter months. The deeper the roots, the better your lawn health will be overall.

2. Helps Prevent Weeds

Fertilising your lawn helps prevent weeds from growing. When your lawn is healthy and well-fed, it is less susceptible to weed growth. The nutrients will also help the grass grow thick and dense.

3. Improves Overall Lawn Health

A healthy lawn is more resistant to pests and diseases, and it will look better too. The nutrients will also help the grass recover from any damage it may have suffered during the summer.

How to Fertilise Your Lawn

1. Choose the Right Fertiliser

Choose a fertiliser that is specifically designed for autumn use. Our maintenance fertilisers include Nitro Green Iron Boost Fertiliser with added iron, Landscape Range All Season Reno, and Super Green Controlled Release Fertiliser , which slowly releases the fertiliser over and extended period.

2. Apply the Fertiliser

Apply the fertiliser evenly over your lawn. It's easier to use a spreader like these spreader like this Earthway handheld 3400 model or the small push Earthway 2600A model which is great for sowing seed and regular fertilising. Be sure to follow the instructions on the fertiliser package carefully to avoid over-fertilising. Water your lawn well after applying the fertiliser to help it soak into the soil.

3. Timing is Key

Timing is important when it comes to fertilising your lawn. Aim to apply the fertiliser around 6-8 weeks before very cold weather. This will give your lawn enough time to absorb the nutrients and prepare for winter.

Fertilising your lawn is an important part of lawn maintenance. By following these simple steps, you can help ensure that your lawn stays healthy and beautiful all year round.
