Summer Lawn Tips: South Australia

Date: 26-11-2024

As the season progresses and the heat ramps up, you can switch to warm-season grasses like Couch and Kikuyu, which thrive in consistently hot conditions.

Time for Warm-Season Grasses

As the weather heats up, warm-season grasses become the star of the show. These varieties thrive in South Australia’s hot, dry conditions and are ideal for long-term durability.

  • Turbocote Kikuyu Lawn Seed: Kikuyu is a standout choice for summer, with rapid growth, drought tolerance, and the ability to handle heavy use. Turbocote Kikuyu germinates quickly, establishing a dense, vibrant lawn.
  • Royal Bengal Couch: This premium couchgrass is tough and drought-resistant, making it perfect for South Australia’s heat. It develops a fine-textured lawn that’s both beautiful and resilient.
  • La Prima Couch: A luxurious choice for those who want a thick, soft lawn, La Prima Couch handles the hot conditions with ease while delivering a rich green appearance.
  • Turbocote Couchgrass: For a reliable warm-season lawn, this blend is engineered to establish quickly and withstand South Australia’s harsh summer sun.

Fertilising Tips

Use a slow-release fertiliser to provide your lawn with the nutrients it needs for steady growth and resilience during summer.  Use the Super Green Controlled Release Fertiliser to provide all the needed nutrients all throughout the heat. If you are sowing a new lawn, use the Kickstart Fertiliser for an extra boost on the germination and growth of your lawn grass.

Watering

During germination, consistent watering is key. Our Wett Up is designed to assist with water penetration and retention during the scorching summer heat.

Warm-season grasses grow actively during spring and summer, establishing deep roots that help them retain moisture and recover quickly from wear and tear. If you want to create a lush, green lawn that can handle South Australia’s sunny climate, these varieties are your best bet.
